For My Guy IO Challenge

This is a twofer post. Impression Obsession has a challenge to make a card for a guy and at first I decided to make a card for when my husband travels and then it suddenly hit me that I had not made an anniversary card for him and tomorrow is our 24th anniversary. I don't know about the rest of you but I am always forgetting to make cards for my family until the last moment. So today I show you two cards made using the same stamp.

This first card is for my DH. I stamped the image in sepia from versafine and then colored it with Twinkling H2Os. I used 3 different colors of grey for both of the cards. This is Bazzill Textured paper. On this card I used Spellbinders Label Three in the largest size to get all the image.
I layered it on the darkest grey and cut around the edge to make the next layer. After I cut it I remember that I could have just traced the die and it would have been the correct size...slap myself silly for this one. The Happy Anniversary stamp is from the $ bin at Michaels. I embossed in detail black but colored the hearts with a red spica pen.

On the inside the romance came through with the hearts nestibilities. The small love stamp is embossed and colored with Twinks. I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood.

The second card is the slanted version. I stamped this one in black Onyx and this one was my favorite after it was colored but unfortunately I used my crooked eye and cut the image out on a very definite slant. Well, one cannot let that cause a throw out so artistic impulse took over and this slanted version was the result. I used the different brads to emphasize the slant. I didn't have a black sentiment frame so I used my marker to change the color from silver to black...it turned out great.

I really like the image stamped in black much better than the sepia color. On watercolor paper, the image comes through much clearer in black than the sepia especially for detailed images.

Now I have to go get supper ready...only DH and myself tonight...everyone else is busy. So again I hope everybody is having a wonderful weekend and spending time with family and friends.

Introducing Spring!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Spring is finally here. Unfortunately the snow is not aware of this and is still around...in fact a lot of it is around. Oh, well I have this great Spring card to enjoy. I used the Spring Birdhouse stamp from Impression Obsession and I love it. The stamp just makes me happy. I love the outhouse part. I used my markers to color this and I think I need one like this in my yard.

I used a Prisma flower with an SU brad over the tails of the 3 ribbons in the top corner. On the other corner I used the harmony stamper on the small and large oval punches from SU.

I love pastel colors for Spring. They just look so fresh. I The ribbons are all from Michaels Classic Traditions satin. The brads are from SU and they were supposed to be straight but after the second one was not line up right I tried to make it look intentional. I know I can`t make a straight line so why did I even try...just call me dumb.

I love the papers I used. They are from Provo Craft. The colors are so wonderful. I think I will get lots of time on the stamps or computer since the boys have gone to Halifax for a Hockey tournament. I get to look after the dogs and drive my oldest son to work. So I know I will be back. Talk later.

World Card Making Day Wonders

What a busy day. My BF came over and spent the day making cards. She is the one who introduced me to Scrapbooking and this craft lead me to card making. I still love to scrapbook but I think I love card making even more. So, BF came over to try a few of the things she has heard me talking about. She wanted to learn how to use both Prismacolored Pencils and H2Os. So the first photo I have to show you is Becky`s first ever card....she is even putting it in a frame as a gift to her Grandmother. BF used Prismacolored Pencils on this one.
She also used a spica pens and the cuttlebug. First she colored the image on Whisper White paper using the pencils and highlighting with spica. She had a great time learning how to spread the colors using stumps and OMS. She used silver Paper Company paper and the cuttlebug Swirls folder to emboss the BG and then used a Metallic Pink to outline the whole thing.

I think she did a great job. The rest of the day she painted and colored but did not actually finish the cards. She decided she could do that at home but she wanted to use my stamps and pencils and paint to color with since she has none. We did have lots of fun and I got quite a few cards done. This is the first one I did using the Poinsetta and Holly Wreath stamp from Impression Obsession. I painted it using Twinkling H2Os and using my cutting system from CTMH to create the circles of red and green.
I put the medallion over red ribbon and put white Spool of Ribbon which is so affordable...under $1. I put dots of Red Stickles on the ribbon to give it more detail. The BG is the Swiss Dot folder fr Cuttlebug. I used the sm/lg oval punches to add the sentiment which I wrote using a blue gel pen.
On this second version of the same card I used a die cut from Cuttlebug to hold the sentiment. I like both versions but maybe the first one the most.

Next I worked on a new stamp from IO...the Cardinals. I love Cardinals and wanted to create a soft card. I stamped the image using Versafine Black Onxy and wrote the sentiment with a blue Gel pen. I actually made 3 of these cards...I have been asked to put some crafts in a sale at the school I used to teach at sooooooo multiple cards are the way to go.This is my favorite new stamp, Cardinals from Impression Obsession. I love the way this card turned out. I am so pleased with all its parts. I used H2Os to color the birds. My Sister used to have Cardinals in her back yard and I loved them. They look so fantastic against the leaves . We rarely get them in the Maritimes so they remain special to me. I did the branch with Prismacolred pencils since limbs to not have any sheen to them. I used the template and bashful blue ink on whisper white paper. I added some ribbon and sentiment (sm/lrg oval punch) to finish the card.In this version I had to cut the bird image on an angle...poor stamping placement so I had to fill in the space using a snowflake from the Snowflake Spot stamp and crystal embossing powder. I like both versions. do you have a favorite?
