Picking Violets

I found a new challenge blog http://cinspirations.blogspot.com/ and I made this card following their sketch. I colored with twinkling H2O and spica pens. The papers are from Provo Craft and DCWV and I love how well they go together, The glass flowers are from the $store and I love how they work together.
After I had finished the card I decided to add some stickles to the centers of the flowers in the bouquet. I only had a few moments to post this so gotta go. Supper is ready to be served.
Talk tomorrow.

Something to be Thankful For

I have so much to be thankful for today that I really need to make this a quick post so that I can make something for my DH and BFF. They were in an accident yesterday that could have ended with great sadness. My friend and husband were driving home early from work because of the terrible storm we were having was only going to get worse and they thought they could beat the worst of it. They hit some slush which took the 4 wheel drive they had and they were heading straight for the road plough. Luckily she managed to get the vehicle out of the spin away from the plough but it ended with them rolling 4-5 times and landing upside down feet from a ravine. Thank God that neither of them are dead or badly hurt. It's times like this that make you forget the stupid annoying little pains in the butts we all have and remember these pains prove that we are living. I really didn't believe they were OK until they got home and I could touch them both. I am so happy this ended well. Totalled the vehicle but didn't harm anyone. Before they were rescued another vehicle also had an accident about 10 yards from them and everybody was fine in this one too.

Now I feel better having told this so how about the card. I gold embossed this image on watercolor paper and painted with Twinkling H2Os. I make a mistake and put too much water on the gold embossing and it lost its shine. This seemed to give the image a more antique appearance. I used 3 layers of curvy rectangle nestibilities to create the center panel. The next panel is embossed with the swirl folder and the final panel is embossed with gold on the edges. I put two sparkling gems on the top right side.
On the inside I used the same DP as on the panel in the front and the same ribbon. I used Martha Steward's dollie punch on the bottom of each panel. I have not put the sentiment inside until I know what it will be used for. It could become a get well card or a birthday or anniversary card...who knows.
Well I want to make something special to make sure my DH knows how Happy I am that he is still around. Yesterday was simply too close for comfort. I need to see Spring soon. We have a new 35 cm of that white stuff out there today. Another record broken this Winter. I can't wait to break some Spring records! So off to stamp some Spring. Talk later.

Black Red Beauty & Candy Reminder

The challenge on Magnolia vs Stampavie is a color challenge....Red, Black White and Grey. At first I really was unhappy doing this challenge but in the end I really like this card. The DP are from My Mind's Eye. The dots were actually all white so I took my fine tip marker and added a black circle inside each white circle. I really like how this added that punch to the design. I also used Spellbinder's Doodle die in both red and black to embellish the card. The red flower is a Prima flower and the black flower was made using a Marvy punch with a black brad holding it all together.
I used my Black Soot Distress ink and the Fired Brick Distress inks to color the clothing. I used my water painter pen to add the distress inks. This is my first time coloring with distress inks so any hints on how to color with them would be appreciated. I made the bow using sheer simmer ribbon.

The inside shows the other DP much better. The sentiment would have to be added with white ink. I wanted to remind all readers that I will be drawing for the blog candy on April 1st so make sure you have left a comment Here . Have a wonderful day. Our day is full of snow again! Can you imagine....school was cancelled again today and we are in the middle of a huge Winter storm.

Saturday Sketch Challenge

Today's card follows the Saturday's Sketch challenge. I wanted to use only a part of the stamped image. I used Jazzy from Sugar Nellies. The paper is DCWV and Provo Craft. The ribbon is from K&Company. I used the Marvy flower punch to decorate the bottom panel.

I colored the image with my markers and used spica pens to add some highlights. I used the circle and scalloped nestibility to cut out the center images.
I left the inside blank to allow for what ever sentiment was needed. Health wise, the family seems to be getting a bit better and I still have not caught it yet so here's hopping I miss it. The weather is finally melting the snow so life is looking good today. I hope to get some watercoloring done today. Wish me luck. Talk later.

Friday Sketches Fairy Dust

I used the sketch on Friday Sketches for this Inkadinkado card. I used the small fairy stamp from the Fairy Dust set. All papers are from DCWV Pocketfull of Posies or Metallic Glitter stack.
I used Twinks (Twinkling H2Os) to color and this photo shows the sheen. I used Ginger Flower, Carribean Mist and Nutmeg as the paint. Prismacolored pens in Light Peach and Goldenrod were also used. The yellow is the yellow spica pen.

After cutting out the butterflies they were attached with Red Line Dimensionals. I cut the image out with the circle and scalloped circle nestibilities. The sentiment stamp is from Hampton Art and is embossed with Garnet powder. I added pearls on the ribbon and the corners of the card.

I embossed another stamp from this set to create the tag on the inside. I used Deco Black powder which sparkles. The tag fits inside the MS punched layers.
The family seems to be on the mend....no sighs so far. I think I may actually get to stamp today. Have a great one.

Butterfly Male Easter Duo

These are the last 2 cards for my DH office staff...yeah! After a while Easter cards become a bit boring. I have no repeats except for these last 2 that are similar. I wanted 2 male cards that were very manly so no pastels or bunnies. I used Kiwi Kiss and a dark blue as my colors. Instead of pink I used an orange tone. So lots of photos to follow. I used my Prismacolored Markers to color and versfine onyx black ink.

The first card is tall 9 inches by 4 inches and fits into a business card. I cased a card from Michelle Zindorff for this one. I changed the stamps but the style is all hers.

The butterflies are from a kit I got at Kent`s Home Depot and has no markings so I don't know who made it. The sentiment holder is from SU Hodgepodge kit. BG stamp is from SU Stitched Exotics.
Love the screw brads $ store and butterfly punch from Martha Stewart.
The second card is my normal card size 5 inches by 7inches.BG stamp is from Broque Motifs SU. Brads from $store and sentiment is on small and large oval punches from SU. The sentiment on the inside is done with the Harmony Stamper from JustRite.

Martha Stewart punch was used on the top. I love the way this punch embosses along the edge.

I have been absent a lot this week dealing with the sick of the male species. One has the mumps and my DH is following all the steps to this but no swelling yet. I hate to complain but men are absolutely the worst sick people. They take it all to a new level. Mine both wont to do it without medicine because that would mean they were weak....instead they like to sigh their way through an illness. If you hear screams world wide they sighed one too many times. I am thinking of hiding the medicine in a bowl of soup which seems to be the main meal this week.

OK I now feel better. Thanks for listening....even if you jumped over this last section...I do feel better.
Don't forget to sign up for the blog candy Here
Everybody is still sleeping so I may get another card done. Have a wonderful weekend.

Birds of Easter

I am so happy with this card. I find it so difficult to create a male Easter card and I think this one will work. The only thing slightly feminine on the card are the two little flower punches on the corners. I needed something and couldn't find anything else. I am pleased with the ribbon. I attached a circle from the hodgepodge set from SU and I love how this turned out. I used Star Dust Stickles in the center of the flowers and on the holes of both buttons.
I couldn't decide which of these two photos of the front was the best so I have included both. Guess you must chose which one to scan over. The spray of birds is an Inkadinkado stamp. I embossed it with Deco Black and that create the colorful sparkle you see. It is such a dramatic effect. I colored the birds different shades using Twinkling H2Os.
The tree stamp is from Imaginisce. It is also embossed with Deco Black powder and I colored the flowers blue. I framed both layers of images on DCWV Textured Metallic Blue paper. The tree layer has its corners punch with the SU Ticket punch and is attached with dimensionals.
On the inside of the card I used Black Detail embossing powder on the spray of birds. I used the label 1 nestibilities to attached both layers to create a sentiment layer.

Yesterday was such a bad day for this family. After getting stuck in the driveway for almost an hour, my DH and DS ended up getting a flat tire on the way to work and had to change the tire. How much more could go wrong....well, my DH had to come home sick and has not left the bed yet. One of the 17year olds now has the mumps, DH is sick and has had the mumps but who knows and the other 17year old is now sick with a terribly sore throat. That leaves the oldest son and myself the only ones still "living". All I seem to be doing is serving soup and juices to the ill. This is invading my stamp time.

Don`t for get the blog candy.

Must go....the sick are calling.

Easter Iris

The challenge on Timeless Tuesdays from Flourishes is to emboss. Today I used Gold embossing powder on the Siberian Iris stamp to create this card. I stamped the image on watercolor paper and used Twinkling H2Os to color. The DP is from DCWV as is the Metallic Textured blue paper. I used the new EK success edge punch to decorate the edges. I used my new Marvy flower punch to create the flower in the top right corner. Pearls were added along the bottom left corner and the center of the flower punch. The ribbon is from Michaels.
The above photo shows the coloring without the gold shining. I put a pink haze around the image to add the shadow effect. The curvy rectangle nestibility was used to cut out the layers of the image.
The first image I embossed was stamped too much. The gold powder was way to thick. Instead of throwing it out I put it on the inside and used a marker to go around the edge. I added a piece of the metallic blue and a small strip of whisper white. The punch was used to decorate each piece.
Don`t forget to comment on the New Thomas Kincade and Surprise post for blog candy. Have a great day.

Bunny in a Basket

http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/ I found a new blog for card sketches and its great. Each week they post new sketches and this week there is even a prize. I made this card following the new sketch.

I used my Alota Oval stamps to create this egg basket. I used Twinkling H2O to color the eggs and Prismacolored Markers to do the basket and handle. The ribbon used is from Imaginisce and it is really wonderful to work with. I used scraps of papers for this entire card. The image is stamped on watercolor paper and the blue and pink are left overs....no idea what brand. I used the Cuttlebug and the Swirl folder on the blue. I do love how these folder change plain paper to something really great.
I used gold embossing powder to create the image and then colored it. The oval nestibility was used to cut it out. I added that great little bunny brad (from scrapbookingcafeonline.com). The Prima flowers were held together with the cutest little heart brad.

In the inside I used more of the Cuttlebugged paper and added ribbon. The sentiment is done with my Harmony stamper from JustRite and I used the EK edge punch to decorate it a bit.

This morning has not been great. One of the 17 year olds has Mumps...not a happy camper and its hard not to laugh at him.. His face is so swollen. One car had to go to the garage and the other one managed to get stuck in the driveway. It took them over an hour to get the car moved and that meant everyone was late for work. Nothing makes you enjoy being alive to hear everybody yelling at everybody else. The whole family seems to be coming down with something. One already has the Mumps and the rest have all had them. I would guess that the flu will hit the rest of them. Anybody need a new housemate?!!!

Guess I had better go make some Chicken soup for the ill. Talk later.

Ooops I almost forgot. Don`t forget to leave a comment on post labelled New Thomas Kincade and a Surprise post for a chance to win Blog Candy.

Mojo Monday Easter Wagon

I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday but turned it sideways for this card. I wanted to use this cute stamp from Alota. This is actually two stamps... the wagon and the eggs. I colored the eggs and wagon with Prismacolored Markers and attached them both with dimensionals. I used the long scalloped rectangles to frame the wagon. I don`t know what brand of paper the purple or white paper is. The printed purple is from DCWV Pocket full of posies stack. I used the EK edge stamp on the two layers on the right. I attached ribbon from Michael's with an Easter Egg brad instead a of a bow and I really like this change.
On the inside I used the long rectangle nestibilities again. The sentiment is faint in the photo but it says Happy Easter Eggstravaganza.
Hope you take the time to check out the Surprise on the previous post...its worth it.
Enjoy your day.

New Thomas Kincade and a Surprise!

My Husband brought me home this wonderful Thomas Kincade stamp. It was just released and I am so impressed that he found it. I stamped it first in black ink but found it too hard to cover the shading so this one was stamped in Vintage Photo Distress ink. It was much harder to see all the details but much better to paint. I think the next time I will use the Sepia color of versafine ink, it should give better details. Of all the TK images I have, this one has the most detailed shading. The small flowers were done with Jasper Red. I don`t know if you appreciate knowing the colors so let me know.

The DP was Bohemia from My Mind`s Eye. I layered the image with Hunter Green and So Saffron and Old Olive papers. The bow at the top was Classic Traditions from Michaels. I was trying to make a card suitable for a male but I don`t think I quite achieved it. I used 3 small Easter egg brads on the bottom right side to make the card Easter.
I used both Twinkling H2Os and Prismacolored Markers to color this image. The roses were done with Lemondrop and Ginger Peach and White Innessential pen. I say this often but shading with watercolor paint is easy to do...more water gives a lighter tint of the color. The leaves are done with Sweet Alfalfa and Kiwi. The BG leaves were done with Light and Dark Olive Green markers. The bricks were done with Jasper Red and Nutmeg with the cement done in French Grey Marker. The trees were done with markers same as the leaves. The faint trees on the top left was done with Fresh Oregano and the sky is done with Bolivian Blue.

The inside was done with more of the DP . The strip on the left side covers the brads. I only thought of them after I had put the card together so they showed on the inside.

Somebody messed up here today. Its supposed to be Spring and school got cancelled because of a snow storm! What a mess it is here today. Another 20 cm of the rotten stuff. We have at least least 3 feet of snow left on our yard...no sight of land any place...just snow. The only good thing I can say about the snow today is it is covering the muddy snow out there. Guess there is not much I can do about it. Thanks for letting me rage...not that you really could stop me, but for those who read this whole entry thanks for listening.
How about that Surprise. Tell me what is your favorite form of coloring and I might draw your comment for this cutie.
To acknowledge that Winter does not want to leave, I have this Tilda with Bell for some blog candy. Leave me a comment about coloring and I will draw on winner on April 1. No this will not be an April Fools joke, I will send this Tilda out to someone. Good luck to all.

A Spoonful of Sugar Willow

The challenge at Spoonful of Sugar is to use gems in your card. I used the most beautiful light pink gems as the centers of the blossoms used in this Easter card. All the papers used are Making Memories and I just love the colors of these papers.

I colored Kneeling Willow with my Prismacolored Markers and twinkling H2Os on the lace, bow and shoes. I tried to match the colors found in the paper and just wanted a bit of shimmer. The top flower is made using 2 of the flowers from the Pretties Kit from SU. I painted them with the Twinkling H2O Pink Cloud to have them match the paper and image.

These bottom flowers are made using the three flowers punch from SU and using the circle cutter from Creative Memories for the pink bg. Two different sizes of gems were used as the center. The pink ribbon is from Martha Stewart.

I am so proud of the inside of this card. This is the first time I made a tag for the inside of the card. I used the long rectangle scalloped nestibility to create the tag. The Alota sentiment stamp is done using Regal Rose SU ink. I used a flower green brad to hold the ribbon to the tag.

I am pleased with the way this card turned out. I have 11 Easter cards done only 9 to go. This is one of my favorites so far. The boys came home from Halifax without a trophy but lots of memories. Today they are both moving a tad slow...sleep is only important when they have to get up for school.
My husband arrived back with oodles of goodies from my favorite store...Carousel Rubber Stamp Store in Dartmouth N.S. He brought me distress stickles, 4 Thomas Kincade stamps and spica pens and more goodies. I am one happy babe who must leave you now to Stamp. So many stamps so little time.

Fuzzy Peach /Pink Grapefruit

No pink or blue on this card. This time I used Twinkling H2Os is different but lovely colors. I found this beautiful DP from The Paper Company and decided to make a card that went with it. The other layer is from DCWV and has the same touch of peach and green as the main layer. The framing layers are Pearl Blue (but it really looks green) from The Paper Company,

I used Pink Grapefruit and Fuzzy Peach for the top and socks while the pants and shoes are done with Fresh Oregano. The hair and face were done with Prismcolored Markers. I used the largest of the oval nestibilities to cut out the two layers and the blue layer was made using Creative Memories cutters. I love the flower I created using Prisma flowers with the center from the Pretties Kit from SU. The flowers are a perfect match for the papers.

I used all the remaining papers on the inside. The sentiment is again done using the JustRite Harmony stamper.
I just had a friend phone to say she is coming for a visit so we`ll talk later.

Pink and Blue Tilda

I made this card using Friday Sketches sketch for this week. This sketch is a great one and lots of fun to do. I used Versafine Onyx ink on watercolor paper for this Tilda image. I then colored her with both markers and Twinkling H2Os. After I took the photo I realized I had not used the white gel pen as a highliter so I best get that done.
For the flower I used a Prisma flower and added a half white pear and used the oak leaves punch from Martha Stewart to create a background for the flower.
The papers are all scraps...the pink is a Making Memories as is the blue on the inside. The remainder papers are all DCWV. The base of the card is Whisper White from SU.

I used both the scalloped circle punch and the curvy square punch from SU to decorate the inside. The bottom panel is for the signature. My DH wants these cards for his staff and all he wants to do is sign the cards so this panel will allow this.
I just heard from the boys and they tied their first game. One of my sons is the goalie and he is sick with the flu but there was no way he was missing this tournament. Not much fun for him but he wanted to go. The team was going out for supper before their next game at 10 pm. They are both on the Midget team and this is their last year of hockey so this is their final tournament. I hope they have fun.
Its so quiet here so I think I will watch a nice girlie movie with lots of tear invoking moments. Talk later.

Basket of Eggs

Don`t you love those bunny brads. I purchased them at scrapbookingcafeonline.com. They are just so cute. The stamp is from Alota Rubber Stamps. This is the ornate wagon with the eggs or beach balls which ever you choose to call them. I think they are balls but today they are Easter eggs. I used the curvy rectangle nestibility to frame the image. The paper is from Provo Craft and the purple is from Michaels. The base of the card is my favorite SU paper...Kraft. I find it the thickest of all the SU papers. It is so sturdy. I used Versamark and gold detail embossing powder on the image and colored it with Prismacolored Markers. The wagon is a separate stamp from the "eggs" and I used dimensional to attach them both to the first layers. This layer was distress with So Saffrom from SU. The purple was distress with Lavender Lace.

The inside used the scraps of the purple and the Provo Craft DP. The sentiment was done with the Harmony JustRite stamps with Pink Pirouette.
More time to stamp. Hopefully I will have another post tomorrow.
