Strawberry Baskets for Friday Sketches

I followed the sketch from Friday's Sketches to make this card. I used one of the Willows from the Summer Set and colored her with my markers. I used the strawberry stamp instead of flowers on the lower right.
I used lots of leftover paper for this card and love how it turned out. I found the blue DP first and then knew I had to make the apples either reddish or yellow and once that was decided I hunted for some yellow. I used my oval frames from Alota and then cut out the shape with the nestibility. I used the MS Lace punch to edge the of the side panel. I added a center strip of the DP with the ribbon on top.

On the inside I continued with the DP and the MS punch. Two more strawberries and an area for the note finished the inside.
This turned out as a nice happy card that I think I will send to one of the mother's of one of the graduates. This is a tough time for us Moms...our babies are graduating. Off to the Baccalaureate tomorrow and the Prom on Monday. An exciting but busy time.

Wagon Full of Tulips

I took lots of photos of this card so I am only going to say a little. The stamps are from Alota Rubber stamps and they are wonderful to color. I used my markers and spica pens to color and used Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade Stickles to highlight and trim. I put a dimensional under the flowers at the top to raise the buds. Label 1 nestibilites were used on the front and Long Rectangle Scalloped nestibilies were used on the inside. The Swirl embossing folder was used with the Cuttlebug on the green papers. I brushed Antique Linen Distress ink across the top to highlight the swirls. The charm is from the dollar store. I used my Marvy small and medium flower punch and the scalloped circle punch to create all the flowers.

They say a pictures tells a 1000 words so this is a really long post! I must go...trouble happening again with my back so sitting a long time does not work right now. Have a wonderful day. Talk later.

Bunny in a Basket

http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/ I found a new blog for card sketches and its great. Each week they post new sketches and this week there is even a prize. I made this card following the new sketch.

I used my Alota Oval stamps to create this egg basket. I used Twinkling H2O to color the eggs and Prismacolored Markers to do the basket and handle. The ribbon used is from Imaginisce and it is really wonderful to work with. I used scraps of papers for this entire card. The image is stamped on watercolor paper and the blue and pink are left overs....no idea what brand. I used the Cuttlebug and the Swirl folder on the blue. I do love how these folder change plain paper to something really great.
I used gold embossing powder to create the image and then colored it. The oval nestibility was used to cut it out. I added that great little bunny brad (from scrapbookingcafeonline.com). The Prima flowers were held together with the cutest little heart brad.

In the inside I used more of the Cuttlebugged paper and added ribbon. The sentiment is done with my Harmony stamper from JustRite and I used the EK edge punch to decorate it a bit.

This morning has not been great. One of the 17 year olds has Mumps...not a happy camper and its hard not to laugh at him.. His face is so swollen. One car had to go to the garage and the other one managed to get stuck in the driveway. It took them over an hour to get the car moved and that meant everyone was late for work. Nothing makes you enjoy being alive to hear everybody yelling at everybody else. The whole family seems to be coming down with something. One already has the Mumps and the rest have all had them. I would guess that the flu will hit the rest of them. Anybody need a new housemate?!!!

Guess I had better go make some Chicken soup for the ill. Talk later.

Ooops I almost forgot. Don`t forget to leave a comment on post labelled New Thomas Kincade and a Surprise post for a chance to win Blog Candy.

Mojo Monday Easter Wagon

I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday but turned it sideways for this card. I wanted to use this cute stamp from Alota. This is actually two stamps... the wagon and the eggs. I colored the eggs and wagon with Prismacolored Markers and attached them both with dimensionals. I used the long scalloped rectangles to frame the wagon. I don`t know what brand of paper the purple or white paper is. The printed purple is from DCWV Pocket full of posies stack. I used the EK edge stamp on the two layers on the right. I attached ribbon from Michael's with an Easter Egg brad instead a of a bow and I really like this change.
On the inside I used the long rectangle nestibilities again. The sentiment is faint in the photo but it says Happy Easter Eggstravaganza.
Hope you take the time to check out the Surprise on the previous post...its worth it.
Enjoy your day.

Basket of Eggs

Don`t you love those bunny brads. I purchased them at scrapbookingcafeonline.com. They are just so cute. The stamp is from Alota Rubber Stamps. This is the ornate wagon with the eggs or beach balls which ever you choose to call them. I think they are balls but today they are Easter eggs. I used the curvy rectangle nestibility to frame the image. The paper is from Provo Craft and the purple is from Michaels. The base of the card is my favorite SU paper...Kraft. I find it the thickest of all the SU papers. It is so sturdy. I used Versamark and gold detail embossing powder on the image and colored it with Prismacolored Markers. The wagon is a separate stamp from the "eggs" and I used dimensional to attach them both to the first layers. This layer was distress with So Saffrom from SU. The purple was distress with Lavender Lace.

The inside used the scraps of the purple and the Provo Craft DP. The sentiment was done with the Harmony JustRite stamps with Pink Pirouette.
More time to stamp. Hopefully I will have another post tomorrow.

Alota Easter Basket

I love the way this card turned out...s simple and yet so effective. The paper is Provo Crafts Pathways Illuminations. The paper is so beautiful with colors that are just perfect for Easter. The stamp is from Alota and were created to be used with the oval nestibilities. I used the largest oval and scalloped oval as the center of the stamp. The remainder rectangles are hand cut and are almost square. I attached the ribbon on the angle to add the 3 allusion of shape....oval, rectangle/square and triangle. I think it just adds a bit of flair.
This photo shows the true beauty of Twinkling H2Os...the sheen of color. I only used the pastel colors on this image. I used detail gold embossing powder and used deco pink and cerulean blue makers for the basket and the handles and the H2Os on the eggs and leaves. I love the beauty of this image.
Still more Easter cards to come. I rarely use Pastel colors but I think they work wonderfully for Easter...what will I color today. Check back later. Have a wonderful day.

Friday Sketches Alota Angel

I love the sketch on Fridays Sketch today. It is so do-able (I think I am creating a new word but I like it). I love the way it came together. I used My Mind`s Eye paper from the Bohemian group. Such lovely paper. It is reversible but I didn`t use the other side just the two coordinated papers.
I stamped the image, Fall Angel from Alota, on Watercolor paper and embossed it with clear detail embossing powder. I used my Twinkling H2Os again. I love the way you can blend the colors. The flowers are from Prima and I used brads from MM. The twig punch is actually the oak leaf punch from Martha Stewart. I looked forever for the twig punch but I think this punch works cute well. The brad in the corner is from Scrapbook Basics. I won it in a blog candy and have been hoarding it forever.

I used the curved rectangle die from Nestibility. On the front I used the middle two sizes and on the inside I used two larger sizes. I seem to use some sort of nestibility on every card. I love how they work and the cuttlebug is simple wonderful. It is so lightweight and easy to use. I have mine sitting on the floor by my feet and I just lift it up whenever I need it. Greatest little tool out there.
Today is my hubby`s birthday so I guess I had better get the house "a itty bit" clean. I am definitely not the tidiest person where as my DH is soooooo very tidy. When we first were going out (25 years ago) I used to intentionally mess things up just to see him go straighten things back. I would mess the folds on the curtains and he would walk in and without even saying anything he would fix the folds on the curtains. I thought this was so funny. He didn`t even know he was doing this. Well I am proud to say that after 24 years of marriage, he no longer picks up and tidies all the time...its hard with teenagers. We joke about it all the time so it has become a tradition that at least on his birthday I will tidy up. Soooooo, off I go to Tidy.

Some People Come into Our Lives...

The best part of blogging is learning about people who are in a difficult place and a card could help them. Yesterday I read of a family dealing with the tragic loss of their 2 week old baby and made this card for them. I read about this on Beate`s Stampin_Up_with_Beate@yahoogroups.com. If you would also like to send a card to this family, email me for the address.

I used the Fall Angel from Alota. I painted this image using Twinkling H2Os after I embossed the image with clear detail powder over versafine black onyx. I used water colored paper and used a paint brush to apply the colors. I apologize for the photo. I am finding it very difficult to photograph Twinkling H2Os. Just me, the colors are beautiful in real life.

The flowers used to decorate the inside and the front are from an unlabeled stamp that I gold embossed and painted with Twinkling H2Os. I used the label one nestibility to create the sentiment. This beautiful saying is a stamp by Inkadinkado. I think this is a perfect saying for this situation.
Some people come into our lives and quietly stay. Others stay for a while, leaving footprints in our hearts and we are never the same. I hope this card brings some joy to this family.

WOJ Lavender and Lace

I am absolutely in love with this card. I really hope this doesn`t sound like boasting, but I do think this is one of my favorite cards. I love the stamp, Kneeling Willow, love the color and think the lace dollie is just perfect...a $store purchase. What makes it even more perfect is that I colored it using my wonderful Twinkling H20s and Prismacolored Pencils.
I used the H20s on the lavender apron and the flowers...Prismacolored pencils and OMS on everything else. I used a lavender spica pen on the ribbon trim and flower design on the dress and apron.
This second picture shows the twinkle effect of the H20s. The flower stamp is from Alota and fits inside the oval nestibility perfectly. I love how it surrounds Willow.

On the inside of the card, I used Versamark and Perfect Pearls on the image and the curvy rectangle nestibility for the sentiment.
It has been very busy around here this week. My Mom left yesterday for Calgary. She is almost 91 so travelling is a bit of a concern for me but she has a sister who she enjoys visiting. My son`s shift at his work also changed so I must drive him into work each day this week which is really effecting my stamp time....woe is me. Imagine a mother helping out her son!
On a serious note, I found one lurking in the corner, thanks so much for the wonderful comments. As soon as I turn on my laptop, I go directly to my dashboard to see if there are any comments. It makes me feel so wonderful to have someone comment. I try to do it on other blogs so I do realize it takes time and effort but I wanted to make sure all commenters know I love to hear from you.
Guess I had better wake everybody up...another work day for the non-retired...do I sound pleased with myself!

Duo Alota Cards

Two friends are coming to Dinner this evening to celebrate a week with out a fall....great friends eh. I decided to make special cards for each one.

This one is for Becky who is going on a Spring Vacation to warm weather this Tuesday. She loves elegant cards so I used my new Ovals from Alota stamps. They are designed to work with the Oval Nestibilities. I colored this gold embossed image with my Prismacolored Markers.
I added the bird from the Inkadinado Birds Galore stamp set. It is such an elegant bird and works perfectly in the oval. I attached sheer ribbon from Micheals and used the small Zots to attach the ends of the ribbon.

I used the sentiment from the Ovals set for the Forget Me Not and the rectangle stamper for the while on vacation. I love this stamper set from JustRite. So much versatility. This final photo of this card shows how I embossed all edges with the gold embossing power. I love how it glistens.

This is the card I made for Tracy. She has a kitten that she just adores so I used the Cart Full of Treats stamp set from Alota Rubber stamps. She is one of the funniest people I know...she tells a mean joke. I wanted her card to be more joyful so I used her favorite color Pink and added a soft yellow to go with it. I embossed the wagon with brown sepia and clear embossing powder and the cats were embossed using black detail powder.I used my markers to color and I must say those cats were hard to do. I had to repeat this little image 3 times before it worked. I had embossed it first to match the wagon but it look horrible, then I tried gold and finally the black. I used the circle and scalloped circle nestibility to layer the image. The background layer is embossed with my new circles folder (I think that is what it is called).
On the inside I used the bow and sentiment included in the set.
I love the first elegant card...very much my type of card. The pink/yellow card is not one of my favorites. I think this stamp set will take some work to make it something I am really proud of.
Well, guess I had better get the house tidied....they may be friends but 5 dogs do create some mess and those who know me, know stamping is a "messy" hobby.

Once Upon an Alota Stamp

I received some new stamps I had ordered from Alota Rubber Stamps and I had so much fun. I decided to use this one first...Fall Angel. I know its not fall so I had to change it up a bit and turn it into a Spring Angel. I used paper I received as a gift and unfortunately , there is no label.
I used the following Prismacolored Markers in the image
  • dress panels alternated with peach and blush pink. The center bodice is done in the peach and the sleeves are blush pink
  • wings are done with cream at the bottom and goldenrod on the tips. I used some bronze at the base of the wings
  • the buds of the flowers are deco yellow and yellow ochre, the leaves are chartreuse.
  • hair was done with sienna brown and light tan.

I used versamark and gold detail embossing powder on the image . I used French Grey all around the image and cut it out with scissor and knife. I used dimensionals to raise the image on the circles. I created the circle medallion using the largest round nestibility in olive green and the scalloped circle in a scrap out of the Poesy of Florals from DCWV. I added another olive green scalloped circle beside the DP. The sentiment Once Upon a Time is from Hampton Art and leaves the card open for birthdays, anniversaries or even get well cards. I used the 1/4 inch punch from SU to trim the card with sections of the DP I used.

I`m having a great day playing so maybe there will be another post later on today.
Hugs
