Summer Time Frame

I am so pleased with this great wall hanging. I used 6 of the Victorian Fan stamp from Me and Carrie Lou to make this completed fan. I attached 6 together with Foam dimensionals and then kept them together with a brad and ribbons were added for the final touch.

I embossed the fan with gold detail and then painted with Twinkling H2Os. I wanted to keep it soft and girlie so I used mainly the lighter colors.

This fan is made on Cansons' Watercolor paper and is quite firm. I only added a back cover to hide the areas where the color had some through.

I used a blue crystal brad with a decor washer to hold all the fan sections together. The ribbons were added on the back and I used some of the small roses Prima has on the ribbons.
Happy Victoria Day Canadians. I hope all your family is having a wonderful time.

A Loving Encouragement for the Grad

It doesn't get much better thank this: to make something that turns out great and to have a great time making it. I made this for one of the girls graduating with my son. Her favorite colors are green and orange so I knew it had to be something cheerful with those colors.

I made this tabletop picture quote to encourage her during her studies. I used the butterfly stamp from The Artful Stamper and added the quote and some flowers and leaves. The entire project is embossed with Gold Detail and Twinkling H2Os.

This creation started from the bottom up. I found this large clothes pin at Michaels, on sale of course. I planned on either making a frame for a photo or something to encourage her. I talked it over with her Aunt and decided on this. I covered the pin with Kiwi Kiss and then attached the cut out butterflies and flower. I used Golden Rod stickles to add extra sparkles. The center of the flowers has Spiced Marmalade or Broken China Distress Stickles for some sparkle.

I used the leaves from I Love Roses set from Flourishes and the blossom is from the $bin at Michaels. I used the Golden Rod stickles to add the dots to the watercolor paper BG.

This is an Inkadinkado sentiment which is perfect for a student. I used the curvy rectangle nestibility to cut it out and used the gold spica pen around the embossed edge. It is attached with foam tape. I was so excited to find the little roses from Prima. I have seen them on many blogs and grabbed them when I saw them at Michaels. I added some Twinkling H2O to the edges to match the other flowers. The ribbon is actually ribbon yarn the I made a hat out of....gotta use all your scraps!

I am so pleased with this and can hardly wait to give it to her. I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend. We are gardening and cleaning to prepare for the grad party in 3 weeks. Its raining now so I got a break. Have a great time with friends and family.

Happy Mother,s Day Projects

I decorated this candy dish for my Mom for Mother's Day. I filled it with her favorite candies and it was a huge hit. I got the dish at an auction and I colored the images with Twinkling H2Os on water color paper.
After cutting each image out with a craft knife (this took the longest time) I used Modge Podge to connect it to the dish.

I ran 1/4 inch ribbon through the holes of the dish to decorate and make that home-made appearance stronger. I put this Inkadinkado bird silhouette on two sides and the Me and Carrie Lou images on the other two sizes.
I was asked to make this next project using a shadow frame and this Lavender Flower Fairy Stamps Happen image. I colored the frame mats using a bayer with lavender lace and bashful blue SU ink.
I colored this image with Twinkling H2Os after embossing it with Gold Detail Powder on watercolor paper.
I am very pleased with both of these projects and hope the receivers enjoy them as much as I do. I hope each and every Mother had a fantastic day. One of my sons gave me the MM spinning carousel and the the other gave me beautiful panzies for one of my planters. I had a wonderful day and think Mother's Day should happen more often.

Handmade Gifts Butterfly Hanging

In February Michelle from Inspiration Blooms put out a challenge for handmade gifts. I took part and I think my gifts have all been received so I can finally show you what I made. I am very pleased with these wall hangings. I only had 4 players willing to participate so I only have 4 to show. I made these wall hangings using a chipboard base and 3 different stamps.... the butterfly is from Stamp Zia, the single bloom is from $bin at Michaels and Inkadinkado made the flourish of flowers. I embossed all images with Gold detail embossing powder and then painted with Twinkling H2Os. The sentiment is from Scrappin Cat. I hope you like these.

I punched a hole at the top with my Crop-a-dil and then using ribbons, Prismas and beads created the hanger.

I had a lovely time making these and I do hope they are enjoyed by the recipients. I am thinking of making something similar as Christmas gifts so you may see more.
Have a wonderful day. Its laundry day in the house...everybody decides to do laundry Sunday night and low and behold, Monday morning see me doing the majority of the laundry. I do so hate folding laundry. Gotta love your children but my land they can dirty a lot of clothes! I know they each use at least 3 towels per shower and at least that many facecloths. I counted today....23 towels and 19 facecloths from 3 teens! Where did I go wrong!!!
Till later

Purple and Green

Since I love Purple, this is really not too bad a mistake but I actually made this for the Whiff of Joy challenge 0nly...I forgot to use a WOJ stamp! Guess this means more purple work to be done...Yeah!!!

So unto the mistake. I used another one of those expensive $store frames for this encouragement picture for a collegue of my DH.
I used a Magnolia image that Claudia Rosa sent me and used my Prismacolored Pencils for coloring. I just love the way you can shade and blend using pencils. I also added a Yorkie puppy stamp which I also colored pencils.
I placed the girl on dimensionals attached to the dollie. The dog was attached without dimensionals. The images were both attached to a 3.5 inch dollie. I distressed the dollie with frayed burlap distress ink. The BG paper is from the Christmas Glitter stack.

I used a strip of leftover paper to create a ribbon and then added 2 Prima flowers to the corner. In the other corner I embossed a stamp from Stitched Exotics from SU. I attached the Imagine, achieve, dream, and become sentiment on the top mat. I embossed this rectangle using the nestibilities.
Well it is once chilly day here -25C. I am so glad that I am home next to my gorgeous fireplace. I am so enjoying retirement....everybody left for work this am bundled up for the cold and I am still in my cosy housecoat. Have a great day.

The Letters of Space

Well I`m done doing most of the decorating for my wonderful new stamping space. I made these chipboard letters to put up on the wall. I still have to get some ticky tac so I am showing them off the wall. When I put my final photos in of my new space you will see that it spells
heather`s space. So here they are:

Second word:

I am still having loads of fun sorting through all my `stuff`as my family calls it. It is so fantastic to be able to find and use all the goodies I have. Before they were either lost in the mess or underneath all the other stamping goodies.
I have to finish the room tonight since I am having friends over tomorrow to scrap. This will be so much fun. I have even got some of my material ready...usually I`m throwing it all together at the last moment.
Well I`m off to go to the grocery store and put myself in debt...teenage boys are never, never finished eating. I hear the fridge open all day and all night for à little something`. What makes me crazy is that they are all so fit...not the least bit overweight. I look at food and it finds a place to settle in for life. I hate grocery shopping but at least one of the boys is coming with me so that makes it more fun...and more expensive...see it, need it....Mom please....pay for it. All Mom`s know this routine.

Desk Top Encourager

I am so pleased with this. My DH, Blake found this frame for me at a yard sale and knew I would have fun with it....and I did. I spent the whole day planning and making this desk top encourager. On someone`s blog yesterday (forgive me, I can`t remember whose) they talked about having a word for the year and I choose to be a Learner. I am going to try to learn something each day. It may be a new technique to me, a fact about a friend or anything. I would like to try to record my learnings but since I am rotten as a recorder of events, this may not happen. Today I learned how a new way to organize cards and I will show this project when I get some goodies I need to make it.
Now onto the shell we say less than perfect pictures. Each section of this frame has glass on it so photo taken is difficult. I tried to put it together without the glass but it did not work. The picture at the top show the frame closed. Now you see it open:

I just love this. I have it tipped back to help prevent glare from the glass but it really is attractive. The frame is mahogany and the color is fantastic. Here comes the door on the left.

The photo is hard to read so here it is:
Some people come into our lives and quietly stay.
Others stay for a while, leaving footprints in our hearts
And we are never the same. (Inkadinkado stamp)
The center section is a 5 x 7 size where I used a variety of stamps to remind me of beliefs I want to follow.
I have quotes from stamps from 7 Gypsies, Inkadinkado, and Hampton Arts. If I look at this I will be reminded on my goals for this year. Hopefully I will remember the important things when life gets in the way.
The door on the right has this quote from a stamp from Rubberstampede. The photo looks pink but I used the same paper throughout...a 12 x 12 sheet of Vintage World paper from DCWV. It is beautiful paper and matches the room decor of my stamp area.
I enjoyed doing this and can hardly wait to set up my new stamp area very very soon. Photos will be shown when it is complete and I guarantee it will one of the few times it will be tidy.
Hope you had a wonderful day. Please know that I really love your comments and love reading your blogs as well.
