Whiff of Joy DT Call

This is the sketch for the DT call at Whiff of Joy. It is such a different sketch...the edge is wonderful to work with. I used this Sitting Willow image and used Twinkling H2Os to paint her. The paper I used is Whisper White (SU) and Light Blue (The Paper Company) and Teal (The Paper Company). The DP is from the Glitter slab from DCWV.
Both the strawberries , the sentiment and Willow are from the Summer stamp set. I found a doily the correct size and ran the Baja Breese ink pad across the top to show the design. I attached Willow and one strawberry with tape. I used my Medium Marvy Daisy punch and attached the strawberries to the flower base. The berries are colored in Garnet and I used a red spica pen on the dimples. The ribbon is Traditional Satin from Michaels.

To match the sentiment I decides to use Hearts on the inside. The Teal hearts were cut out of the teal paper after I had used the Paisley Impossibilities from Spellbinders. Both the hearts dies and the impressibility were run through my Wizard I ran the white ink pad across the hearts that were made of the impressabilited paper to show the design. On the edge of the base on the rieght I used the doily punch from Martha Stewart to add some decoration to the edge.
We are in the middle of a storm so I want to post this before I lose the power to do this.

Whiff of Joy Sketch

I followed the Whiff of Joy challenge sketch today to make this card. Since I was a girl I have always been attracted to the blue green combination. I always feel good to see it so you know I love this paper. It is from the Paper Company and I have used 3 different DP and then Navy Blue for the base of the card.

I colored Willow with markers and used Spica pens to highlight and add some glitter to the card. I used Label 4 nestibility to cut out the image layer and then used the outside rim and my knife to create the blue label. The flowers are from Prima and the brads are from Making Memories. I used the word window punch from SU to make the tabs and the ribbon is also from SU

I used the same papers on the inside but this time I used a smaller nestibility in white so used the largest of the Label 4 to cut out the blue label.
I hope you are all doing great. The house is so quiet...the boys are all at work and our hyper Golden Retriever has only a few days before she delivers so she is even quiet. She usually wants to play but today she just wants to sleep next to me. Must go make her a little snack.
Have a great one,

Prom Night & WOJ Challenge

Now isn't he the most gorgeous! We took lots of photos of the big prom night but I want to wait to show Grad Exercises as well so Saturday will have all the scenes to show you. I have been so busy with Graduation happenings. It is a huge thing in our town and it a happening week with activities each day. Exciting but busy.

This is my very first attempt at paper piecing. This week's challenge at WOJ Challenge blog is to paper piece. I had to check out some site on the How Do of Paper Piecing and this is my take on it.
I used DP on the entire Willow stamp. I used a subtle pink mix for the flesh and then used more intense colored paper for the rest of the card. It was fun to try and find papers that would work for the hair and the dress. The tree was stamped directly on the paper and colored with markers. To add a little oomps I used Crystal Effects from SU on the apples, planter, and strawberry pattern section of the dress and headband. I attached Willow with dimensionals onto paper from DCWV called Once Upon a Time. This piece came with the strip of green glitter on the top and bottom edge. I also layered this on green and then ivory paper using the EK edge punch and Frayed Burlap Distress ink.
I used the same paper as the dress to make this corner flower. I used Marvy punches for the flowers and The Curvy Square punch from SU created the background layer. Again, I distress these edges as well.

On the inside I used the label 4 Spellbinder nestibility and distress ink to create the two labels. The Thanks so Much stamp is from Inkadinkado. I used Not Quite Navey, Taken with Teal and Mellow Moss to create the flow of colors. Willow was stamped on Whisper White and colored with markers to match the cover willow.
WOJ is having a DT call so this will be one of my entries. I would be thrilled to be on a DT and this line a stamps is one of the best. I love all of Elizabeth Bell images and only wish I had more stamps.
Must leave soon to pick up one of the boys. Today is mammogram day so I'm off to get the Big Squeeze! I appreciate the value of the test but ouch is the name of the game.

Strawberry Baskets for Friday Sketches

I followed the sketch from Friday's Sketches to make this card. I used one of the Willows from the Summer Set and colored her with my markers. I used the strawberry stamp instead of flowers on the lower right.
I used lots of leftover paper for this card and love how it turned out. I found the blue DP first and then knew I had to make the apples either reddish or yellow and once that was decided I hunted for some yellow. I used my oval frames from Alota and then cut out the shape with the nestibility. I used the MS Lace punch to edge the of the side panel. I added a center strip of the DP with the ribbon on top.

On the inside I continued with the DP and the MS punch. Two more strawberries and an area for the note finished the inside.
This turned out as a nice happy card that I think I will send to one of the mother's of one of the graduates. This is a tough time for us Moms...our babies are graduating. Off to the Baccalaureate tomorrow and the Prom on Monday. An exciting but busy time.

One Last Grad Card

I don't know if this happens to other bloggers but I forgot to make any cards for my own son's Graduation! Talk about feeling foolish....I had to steal some cards I had actually made for Martin's friends so guess who had to replace with more grad cards.
I love this little guy from the WOJ summer kit. The wooden slate leaves a great place for some sentiment. These are more scraps from SU. I used my nesties to cut out the layers and used Peeled Paint distress ink to distress the edges.

On the inside I create a small pocket to hold the gift card we are giving Kristen. For this photo I used one of Martin's wallet photos. He is such a handsome boy/man. We adopted him from the West Indies and has been with us since he was less thank one year old. He is extremely athletic and popular and has only missed 4 days of school from kindergarten to grade 12. I think he will really miss going to school ...not for the classes but for the friends. I know I will cry through the whole ceremony next week. He has had such a wonderful school experience and has made marvellous friends. I hope each one of them stay a part of our extended family...I love having them all dropping in. It seems like such a major milestone for me...I think I am beginning to fear the empty nest syndrome!
Guess I had best get going. Talk soon.

I'm Back!

I'm back even though I never went away...just no time to post. This is such a busy time...Graduation. My youngest son is graduating from grade 12 and this is all what life is about. Last week all my time was spent getting ready for the grad party we had on Sunday. More than 7o people came for a pool party barbecue and we had a fantastic time. It was so great seeing grads with their friends and their families. We see the kids all the time but to also have their parents here as special. It was the greatest way to celebrate their graduating. I think the highlight was the chocolate fountain! If you haven't tried one please do...such great fun and soooo tasty. I took my first dip and had chocolate on my shirt for the rest of the day. But enough on the party, here is my card for Megastamper Challenge.
Bea has this great sketch to use and this is the card I ended up with. I used scraps of paper, some from SU and others from My Mind's Eye.
These two stamps are from the WOJ Summer set and they are so wonderful. I colored them with markers and used Solar Gold Twinkling H2Os to color the apples and trim on the dress. I also used the yellow spica pen on her hair...just enough sparkles to make the card look alive. I used my ticket corner punch from SU and then my Martha Stewart lace punch to create the corner detail.

I used my bow easy to make the bow from my silk ribbon from No Time To Stamp. I used three layers to create the flower. The leaf is from some embellishments I received from a friend. I love the way it turned out.

I did the same corner detail on the inside and used 3 separate spellbinder dies on the inside. I used some frayed burlap distress ink to distress the edges and show the embossing on the butterfly and the dragon fly.
I hope you had time to read this very long post. I will be posting another card later. Have a wonderful day.

Roses on Paper Challenge

Today I followed the sketch on Roses on Paper Challenge Blog. They are actually having a DT call and this is one of the ways of entering the contest for the Belles 'n Whistles Guest Design Team member call. Go check it out! The sketch turned out to be the beginning of a whole project. I made my son's girlfriend a fan for her wall found on This Post. I couldn't find any way to package it soooo....

I made this box to hold her fan. This is my part of recycling...I use the cardboard backs off of two watercolor paper pads to make the top and bottom of this 91/4 in by 11 inch wonderful box. I should have taken pictures but I cut the top slightly bigger than the bottom and then covered with 1 12x12 sheet plus 1.5 inches was added on one side. This allowed for a 1.5 inch depth to the cover. The bottom section is 1/4 inch smaller and has 2 inch deep sides. I just attached the CS to the hard covers and wrapped the corners and taped.
This photo shows how the two fit together. The blue ribbon covers the flap ( I put one on the outside by mistake so ribbon camouflage came into play). I always say there are no mistakes in crafty just new ways of doing something!

I colored the Whiff of Joy image with markers and Twinks on the dress. I attached her to the oval with dimensionals. I also added the bowl of apples from the Summer Stamp set. The diploma is a CB die that I added to the red oval (SU punch). I layered this on the largest scalloped oval in red. All papers are from My Mind's Eye (I think).

Isn't that flower and bow fantastic! I used my new and wonderful bow easy to make the bows and that is just what they are...super easy. All crafters need one of these. I purchased mine from Sharon at Stamp Simply and I just love it. I think Joan's Garden also carries them.
Today we finally got all the pool side tables and chairs out...it is finally decided that Summer is on the way.....besides that the Graduation Pool Party is here this weekend so we thought it might be an idea to get is done. Now I am exhausted and need to rest...talk later.

Whiff of Joy Brown and Blue

I used two of my Summer Stamps from Elizabeth Bell for this challenge card. I colored with my markers and highlighted with my inkessential Opaque pen.
I stamped the tree twice and cut out some of the apples to create a layered look. I also used stickles on the design on the pants and the plant pot. I used the daisy edge from Martha Stewart and my flower punches from Marvy to create the 4 flowers on the corners.

On the inside I used my new frame shapablility from Spellbinders and used the die itself to paint the design. You can't see the sentiment but it is done in light blue.

My youngest son spent the last 2 days being checked at the hospital for lumps found in his groin... so far great news...just an infection they think. It is so tiring to wait and the hospital is just not a fun place. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Dutch Dare Challenge Sweet Hello

The Challenge this week at Dutch Dare Challenges is Glitter and Bling-Bling. I used one of my new Whiff of Joy Summer kit stamps. Isn't she adorable. I painted her with Twinkling H2Os and Markers. I layered the image on Glitter Paper from DCWV. The ribbon is from Michaels Satin Traditions. I used my new Spellbinders Shapeabilities Flower Bouquet Miniabilities. I used my wizard but I put the paper on the wrong side. Unfortunately, I didn't have any more so....the flowers are not as detailed as they should be. I used liquid pearls to create the dots on the ribbon and the swirl on the bottom left.

I used Twinkling H2Os on the apron and stickles Golden Rod and Spiced Marmalade on the trim. Love the glitter of stickles. The sweet Hello sentiment is with the Whiff of Joy sheet and I cut it out with the small oval punch.

I used the Label 4 on the outside image and Label 3 of the nestibilities on the inside. The DP is from DCWV.
My son is looking for a new job so I took him on 2 interviews this morning. I hope he gets one of them...it is a major increase in pay and the job really appeals to him. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for all the lovely comments.

Stampers Dream Challenge #7

I made this card following the rules for the color and bling and texture challenge on Stampers Dream.
I painted Willow using H2Os and then used the aqua brush to add Riding Hood Red for the dress and Baja Blue for the apron. This makes the color change but keeps the twinkling showing through...what a way to make more colors. I added Star Dust Stickles to add some bling.

This photo shows the effect of the stickles...it truly sparkles.
Go check out the challenge and have some fun. Off to the Doctor's so talk later. Again, Happy Memorial Day to all American buddies.

WOF Cute Card Thursday

I was able to fulfill two challenges with this card. I followed the sketch on Whiff of Joy Challenges and used the brown pink combination for Cute Card Thursday.
I love this sketch...such a wonderful way to show off some DP. The pink DP Provo Craft. Isn't it lovely. The brown is from We R Memory Keepers. This paper is very thick and so smooth. I outlined the front panel first in brown and then in the pink I used for the cardbase.
I love this Kneeling Willow stamp. I seem to use it more often than any other stamp. I colored her in Deco pink, Light Umber and Dark Brown. I used the same marker for the apron and the dress. The apron is colored more than once. I also used a clear spica pen on the white trim and the bottom of the apron. Cotton Candy stickles were used on the blossom pattern on the dress and around the scalloped oval.

I used the largest oval and it's matching scallop to hold the sentiment on the inside. All in all I really like this card.
It is so cold here today. I have the fire going in the fireplace and I know that Spring must have ' hard to believe that Easter is this weekend. Oh well the Easter bunny will be able to hide in the snow. Talk later.

Simple Design

I followed the sketch for Friday Sketches and forgot to post this card. There is very little color on this card just black, grey and light pink and no pattern paper. This is a truly simple card.

I used scraps from cuttlebugged projects. One piece is done in the maze pattern and the other shows the dotted Swiss pattern. Kneeling Willow is done with two colors of markers....Deco Pink and French Grey. Not my usual style...but good for a change. I had to have some embellishment just because, so I used Prima flowers attached with an SU brad and some pink ribbon from Michaels.

Definitely something different than my normal style but I do like it. I will say it looks much better in real. The pink paper is actually shimmer paper so though it does not show in the photo, it does add some shimmer to the card.
I really am late posting this but life just got in the way. I have to stop now...my fingers keep mis-spelling simple words and my backspace key is wearing out on my today. The fingers seem to have other plans than the ones my brain is thinking....anyone now a good finger mechanic?

A Spoonful of Sugar Yellow/WOJ Challenge

I made this card following the sketch on http://www.aspoonfullofsugar.com/. This sketch had so much on it but I ended up adding one more flower because I had made my card taller and it needed some balance. It also has lots of distressing on it for the challenge this week at Whiff of Joy.
I used my Prismacolored Markers on Kneeling Willow. I wanted to stick to a monotone card so I only used yellows on this card. The base of the card is Kraft paper from SU and the other papers are all from The Paper Company. I used all different kinds of flowers but all are from Prima. I used aged bronze brads from K&C company as the flower centers. I also used the circle and scalloped nestibilities to cut out the Willow image.

This is the extra flower I added for balance. The center brad at the top is from Imaginisce. I won this beauty is the blog candy I won from Suzy. It was perfect for this spot. This photo also shows the magic mesh which I used in two colors...here it is the vanilla beige color and below I used the deeper beige color.

I wanted to show this wonderful little sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado. It is from a set by Elizabeth Brownd and is just so detailed. I colored the flowers on the corners with a yellow gold spica pen to add just a touch of color to the stamp. The inside is covered with this same paper . Again I left it sentiment free until I know the card's use.
It is such a beautiful day here....sunny and it is supposed to reach 11C today. What a week...snowstorm Mon./Tues. and Spring back on Thurs. I only hope this melts a whack of snow. I have to finish the income tax forms today so I won`t see much time to play. I hope to be back later with the winner of the blog candy from yesterday. Hope you win.

A Spoonful of Sugar Willow

The challenge at Spoonful of Sugar is to use gems in your card. I used the most beautiful light pink gems as the centers of the blossoms used in this Easter card. All the papers used are Making Memories and I just love the colors of these papers.

I colored Kneeling Willow with my Prismacolored Markers and twinkling H2Os on the lace, bow and shoes. I tried to match the colors found in the paper and just wanted a bit of shimmer. The top flower is made using 2 of the flowers from the Pretties Kit from SU. I painted them with the Twinkling H2O Pink Cloud to have them match the paper and image.

These bottom flowers are made using the three flowers punch from SU and using the circle cutter from Creative Memories for the pink bg. Two different sizes of gems were used as the center. The pink ribbon is from Martha Stewart.

I am so proud of the inside of this card. This is the first time I made a tag for the inside of the card. I used the long rectangle scalloped nestibility to create the tag. The Alota sentiment stamp is done using Regal Rose SU ink. I used a flower green brad to hold the ribbon to the tag.

I am pleased with the way this card turned out. I have 11 Easter cards done only 9 to go. This is one of my favorites so far. The boys came home from Halifax without a trophy but lots of memories. Today they are both moving a tad slow...sleep is only important when they have to get up for school.
My husband arrived back with oodles of goodies from my favorite store...Carousel Rubber Stamp Store in Dartmouth N.S. He brought me distress stickles, 4 Thomas Kincade stamps and spica pens and more goodies. I am one happy babe who must leave you now to Stamp. So many stamps so little time.

Willow in Green

The challenge this week on Whiff of Joy is to create a green card. It would have worked great for St. Pats day but lucky me...I have a friend loves green so this is her Easter card. It was fun finding a way to use greens and still make an OK card. I used 5 papers, 2 of which were reversible. The papers were from Provo Craft and SU. The embellishments were so important on this card. The Prisma Flowers look perfect on the corners. I cut out a small circle matching the main color to match it all. The green glass flowers are from the $ store and work perfectly on this card...gotta love the price eh!

I took the plain green paper and ran it through the cuttlebug with the circles embossing folder and cut it with the largest scalloped circle nestibility. I love how embossing changes a plain paper. I also used the oval nestibility on the SU paper and attach the Kneeling Willow to this. I colored Willow with my markers using Light Aqua on the dress and Deco Pink on the Apron. The hair is a mix of Sienna Brown and Goldenrod. I love the ribbon. It is Classic Traditions Satin ribbon and it makes beautiful bows. I left the ends loose and I like the effect. It shows the softness of the ribbon.I used the reverse side of the SU paper to create the oval and the Harmony Rectangular stamp for the Happy Easter stamped in Pretty in Pink. I also cuttlebugged the green paper again for the large inside panel.
Today it looks like Spring is almost here. The temperature is going to 8 C today and and the snow is melting. Soon there will be flowers. ..hope, hope, hope. I love snow in the winter but I think enough is enough...time for Spring. Time to get everybody up for work and school so I will be back later. Have a wonderful Almost Spring day.
Hugs
