Happy Valentine`s Day CPS

I am so pleased with this card. I followed the sketch on http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com. They are having a anniversary week so it would certainly be worth checking it out. I used the Roses stamp set from Flourishes and I love it. Having two sizes of one stamp provides many opportunities for stamping.
I stamped the smaller rose three times and colored them all with Prismacolored Pencils. I used the new VersaMark Dazzle watermark pad on the large rose. After it had dried quite a bit I added some Dazzling Diamonds for some extra sparkle. Now it looks just like those cards available when I was a young girl. I thought they were so beautiful. I used the sentiment provided in this stamp set with Perfect Plum ink. As you can see, I used the curvy rectangle nestibility on all the roses. To highlight the edge embossing, I used a metallic Rose pencil along the edge.

The inside of the card has the final rose and two more sentiments from the set. I tore the edge of the paper using the ruler from Plaid. It makes such a great edge.
I used papers from Provo Craft and the cardstock is from Bazzill.
I am having a great day...doing all the fun things I want...surfing and playing with paper. Remember to sign up for my blog candy.

Coloring in the Dark

This morning started with no power. School got cancelled...yeah for the boys but boohoo for me. I really love my kids but enough is enough...they have been home for more than a week what with exams and storm days. I need a break from teens and I had so looked forward to today..the start of 2nd term at school. But alas, it is not to be. It is now 12:40 and the power has returned. Yeah.

So why the title? I needed something to do this morning and I had this image stamped so I colored. Daylight slowly arrived as I was coloring but I started out with candle light and early dawn light.
People have commented on my coloring so I thought I would share some of my tricks. Feel free to skip this paragraph if coloring is easy for you. I stamped this sugar nellie stamp with black onxy Versafine ink and then outlined the image using the fine tip of my prismacolored marker. I then filled it in with the wider end. I then put in the shading using the same color marker. I outlined outside the image with French Grey marker to give the allusion of depth on this image. Next I took out my colored pencils. I used a deeper shade of pink. The marker I used was Deco Pink and I used the Lavender pencil to add depth to the image. I used it on all the outside edges and the inner leg on the left side making the right leg seem closer. Then I grabbed the Light Aqua pencil and put finishing touches in the image. I added a lot of this pencil to the hat mostly along the edges of the hat. On the clothing I put the aqua along the inner leg and near the arms. Then I lightly shaded the background and lightly ran the edge of the pencil around the embossed edge created using the curved rectangle nestibility. The one thing I always do is add a bit of an opposing color to all my images. I think that is why I love my Prismacolored pencils...it is so easy to shade and blend colors. ( I have ordered the blender for my markers but I don`t have it yet.) I also always put some white on the face and hands and legs/pants and tops to create texture.
the rest of the card is quite self explanatory. I used the curved rectangle and the scalloped long rectangles to get the shapes. The papers are from the Pocket Full of Posies stack from DCWV. These are lovely papers. The ribbon is from Martha Stewart.
Don`t forget to comment on my Candy. The drawing is Feb. 4th. Talk later.

Ismaki Challenge

I made this card following the sketch on Ismaki. Its another birthday card for my husband`s office. Here are the details:

All the papers I used are from Provo Craft. I distressed all the edges using a sponge and walnut stain and vintage photo. The lady stamp is from Hampton Arts and I embossed it with garnet embossing powder. I used the Inkadinkado Opaque White pen to highlight the image.
I used the long rectangle nestibility and the scalloped long rectangle on the other layers. I used the dark blue glaze pen to dot the edges for more detail.
Part of the challenge was to use paint so I embossed the flower stamp and then painted with blush rose Twinkling H20s. I put a dot of sapphire blue on ice in the middle. I used the label 1 nestibility to make the Happy Birthday label.
On the inside I used the paper I had cut the front label out of and then inserted another one size smaller.

I didn`t do much today...still not feeling perfect. I had a wonderful day cuddled up in front of the fire. Guess I`ll have to get some housework done tomorrow. Don`t forget to check out the blog candy.

Have a wonderful day.

Remember

Remember is such a versatile title. I used it the other day on a get well card by Remember life before the cold! Today it is a reminder to enter my blog candy. Go to the entry titled Blog Candy from Me, two posts earlier than this one. If someone could tell me how to put one of those quick links on my blog then I would use it here but I am not great at figuring computers out. Help me out if you can...I love to learn.
So, back to the card. The Bird stamp and the Remember stamp are from Inkadinkado and are embossed with Disco Black and placed on My Mind`s Eye paper. I used the Label 1 nestibility on the bird section and the Curved Rectangle on the section on the left. All the paper is from My Mind`s Eye and I love it. I used Night of Navy and a sponge to distress all edges.
I used dimensionals on the both the bird label and the curved rectangle. The remember tag is also on dimensionals. The ribbon is from Costco and I have no idea what brand it is, very useful though. I
I used a Sakura Glaze pen to dot the outside edge and to dot the brad. Love those pens.
As you can see, I continued with the paper on the inside and added another Remember tag on top of the label 1 nestibility.
Not feeling great today, I think I have gotten the flu bug that is floating around out there so I am off for a nap with the plan to push the bug out of my life.
Talk later. Hugs

Basic Grey Challenge

First off I apologize for the coloring on my photos. Apparently taupe did not feel like being photographed today. The photo above is actually the most like the real thing. So onto today`s entry.
I found a new set of challenges and this is my attempt. Basic Grey Challenges are great...lots of creativity and a prize...who could ask for more. This weeks recipe was 2 patterned paper, 3 brads and a button. You must use at least one BG item. I choose to use one of the new stamps I purchased at the closing out sale I went to Friday.

The stamp set includes this beautiful bird and a bunch of flourishes. It also includes the flower stamp found on under the brads. I used versamark and gold detail embossing powder on the image. I don`t show much of the shine but it really sparkles. I used my new curved rectangle nestibility and whisper white paper. I distressed the edges with Fire Brick Red and Antique Linen distress inks. I used one of the brads as the eye of the bird. The sentiment is from G studio and I embossed it in garnet embossing powder.
For the button I used a clear acrylic one I purchased from www.MyAcrylicAlbum.com. I used stickles on each petal and embroider thread to attach it. I placed it at the end of the ribbon. This photo also shows the flower which I embossed in gold detail and put a brad in the center. I used the red paper from BG.
I used the same SEI paper on the inside of the card as the outside. I used the curved rectangle to remove the center section where the sentiment will go. Again I distressed the edges using Distress Inks.
I promised a Birthday gift for you so check back this afternoon for all the details. Its a good one.
Hugs

PS Sorry for the photos, they really are rotten.

Remember When

Oh what a sunny day we are having. I am sitting at my desk in front in the sun beam from two windows and it is just glorious. It is -18C outside but wonderful here in the sun. I can almost imagine I am on sunny beach.

I made this card following the sketch for Friday Sketchers. It is a great sketch that I decided to make similar in style to the one made by Bea. I made the front flap less than half the width of the card and I love this style. I think I will be trying this one again.
I used Windy Tilda and of course my favorite color combination Purple and Aqua. The papers are from DCVW and they are so lovely. I colored Tilda with Prismacolored Pencils and OMS. I used 2 Prisma flowers and put the other flowers inside of them. They are from the ever famous $store. For the yellow brads I made a circle using the 1/4 in. SU punch as a washer. I really like the result. The ribbon is from Martha Stewart and the Ribbon slide is from SU. The Remember When is an Inkadinkado stamp. I used versamark and white embossing powder and attached it with dimensionals.
I am on my way to a scrapbook store that is closing out in Sussex NB about an hour away. Its hard to see another store close but the owner wants to retire and who can blame someone for that. Retirement is great fun...why did I wait so long!
Hoping to get lots of goodies. Talk tomorrow.

Love Always

Let`s start today with a blog to visit for some great blog candy: http://www.jessicaacs.com/index.php/2009/01/18/getting-ready-for-cha/.

I used the Flourishes stamp I Love Roses again today but this time I used the rose on the stem and one of the buds.
I choose this photo to show all the shine from the gold embossing. The second picture below shows the colors better.

I attached the bud stamp to the stemmed rose as I was stamping. I thought this would make it look better. I used versamark and gold detail embossing powder.

I used my Prismacolored markers and pencils to color in the flower. I used an Inkadinkado white gel pen for highlights. I colored first with markers and them added depth with the pencils. I used the Love Always stamps from the set as the sentiment and gold embossed them as well.

I used a picture matt I had in to trace the shape of the main panel. I used Whisper White and Kraft paper for this card. For the other two layers of the center panels, I simply cut around the panel leaving a bit showing. I used a gold gel pen to highlight each panel. I used Martha Stewart`s Lace punch on the right side of the final white layer. The base of the card is Kraft.

As you can see in the above photo the inside panel also has a scalloped edge that extends beyond the front edge. I also used two ribbon which I tape together to create the bow.

For the inside of the card, I made a copy of the photo mat using whisper white. I used frayed burlap and milled lavender distress inks on both the whisper white and the pink insert. I left the insert blank for a handwritten note of love. Guess that is all for today. DH comes back from Toronto today so I guess I had better clean the house a bit. I am just like the kids, when Dad is away suppers are in front of the TV and housework is definitely not high on the list of doing.

Flourishes Valentine

This is the first card I have made using a Flourishes stamp and I am very impressed with the stamps. They are very detailed and they take both ink and versamark extremely well. Love the impression they leave. This is the I Love Roses Set and I think I will have lots of fun with it.
Today I stamped the full bloom rose onto whisper white cardstock using versamark and embossed it with gold detail powder. I then used Twinkling H2Os to paint inside the gold lines. I attached 2 leaf sections and placed the rose over them. I attached them to a dark blue cardstock that I had run through the cuttlebug using the Swiss Dot folder. This is one of my favorite folders. It always makes the paper seem gorgeous. I also used 2 silver brads ($store) and attached the whole thing to gold gloss paper.
I attached the rose section to a piece of pressed and creased DP also in navy blue.
I ran sheer shimmer ribbon across the top and attached a flat bow with a blue crystal brad. I found it hard to take a picture showing the bow but in reality it looks great. I again used Gold Detail embossing powder to add the sentiments Love Always. I cut them out using the large oval punch (SU).

For the base of the card I used deep rose colored paper that I do not know the label of...sorry. On the inside I added the small version of the full bloom rose on the stem.

I am actually now being quite quiet since the boys finally agreed to study for their exam tomorrow. So I guess I sign off till tomorrow.

Hugs

Heather

Children are Love made Visisble

A friend had a grandson born recently so I made this framed welcome for the baby. I absolutely love the and believe the sentiment I used. As a mother of teenager, sometimes it is difficult to remember this, but I always tried to tell all my colleagues in teaching that every child is someone`s baby. So, the sentiment works for me. I used Magnolias boy stamps. I find it hard to find stamps suitable for boys but here are two. I colored them with Prismacolored Pencils and OMS. I really do love the way you can blend and shade with these pencils.
I used the heart nestibility for a name tag and of course the JustRite rectangular stamper with the Brampton font. I used Hunter Green and Ballet Blue for the ink. The edges were distressed with Close to Cocoa.
I used Gold Detail to emboss the butterflies and colored them with Twinkling H2Os. The Magnolis vs Stampavie Challenge this week is to use a bow so I placed mine outside on the frame. I attached it with Zots and used the Martha Stewart Butterfly punch to hide the spots where the tales were attached to the frame.
Stamps: Magnolia Edwin, Inkadinkado Butterflies
Paper: Pocket Full of Posies from DCVW
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Heart Nestibility, MS Butterfly punch, $store frame, MS ribbon, Gold Detail embossing powder

Mini Album Pages 4-8

Finally more pages to the mini album. Loads of photos but few words. So, here goes:
Page 4Page 5: Maggie in all her glory. This is the puppy we kept at home. She now rules the roost. She is a small mighty heart stealer.
Page 6 shows some of Maggie's exploits.Page 7 Maggie with her brothers and sisters.
I embossed the butterfly with gold detail and then colored with painted with Twinkling H2Os. Love it.

Page 8. The puppies were only 4 days old. They still have their eyes closed and look how tiny they were. All were less than .5 of a pound but they were all healthy.

I used Pearl Perfect powders on an Inkadinkado image. I used the Inkadinkado Opaque Pen to dot the design.
I used a heat gun to shrink the ribbon. Love how it turned out. I attached the ribbon to an acrylic square button.
I still have another 8 pages to go so there will be more photos. It has been fun to do this. I love my MS butterfly punch and the Cricut cut flowers that I can emboss with Perfect Pearls. This is the first mini album I have done and I am trying to maintain a theme so I am repeating the embellishments to maintain this theme.
Today its freezing rain so school is cancelled which means exams postponed. Yet another day I must `hound and beg`the boys to study. Yuck! Yuck! Grade 11 and 12 students do not take well to their Mom telling them what to do.
I think it is time to play with some new stamps so I`ll be back later with the next card.
Hugs to all
Heather
