Sugar Bowl Challenge #1 ...First Card for 2009

Well my first card for 2009 seemed perfect for the first challenge on the Sugar-Bowl blog found here http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com/ .I followed the sketch by Tiets and had great fun. I found it challenging to say the least...all those layers. The easiest part was the image on a tilt. Even when I think something is perfectly straight, it often ends up being less than correct.

I used my Prismacolored Markers to color my favorite Sugar Nellie stamp. I love her expression and her attitude. She is great fun to color. I did use my pencils and a spica pen to highlight as well as the ever necessary white Inkadinkado gel pen.
The sentiment is a studio G stamp I got for Christmas. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and the large oval punch from SU. I used a red gel pen to doodle around both the sentiment and the image.

I used the largest rectangle nestibility on the image (Whisper White SU) and the matching scalloped nestie was done in a piece of red scrap. All the other layers are from DCWV Pocket of Posies and Old World Vintage. Both series are lovely and easy to work with. The base was a piece of unlabelled Scrapbooking paper that is the perfect shade of pink.
The sentiment on the inside is from Stampendous and I love it. This is what I would like to follow for 2009. Sounds like a great year! I added a strip of the bottom layer on the front and 3 flowers made from scraps .

New Years Eve was a difficult day at our house. Our oldest dog (17 years old) passed away at 4:30 am. She went peacefully but we all missed her all day. It set the other dogs off and later that evening the Mother Yorkie, Chole started to vomit blood so it was off to the vet. Now they love to charge extra on New Years Eve and I am awfully glad we could afford it. The pup came home late New Years day and is finally feeling back to normal today. She was checked from her nose to the tip of her tail and they found no reason for the sickness but they unfortunately they did find the bill. Oh well she is better so that`s all that counts.

Well my break is over....back to taking down all those decorations we put up. Now the house is in a total mess...except for my scrapping spot.

Talk later. Thanks for all the lovely comments. They are so encouraging.
Hugs
Heather
