Happy Birthday Blue Girl

I made this card for the Papertrey Weekly Challenge # 28. I chose my papers first and then decided on the stamp. I started with a larger card..6inches by 8inches but I made it smalles. Now it is actually 6.5 x 5 inches and fits into a regular envelope. All the papers are from Provo Craft Slab XI. These papers are from the Cadenza patterns.

The sketch is found on papertakeweekly.blogspot.com . I found this a difficult layout. I had a hard time deciding which layer was which color but finally I figured it out. Maybe the problem was timing. I was up at 4 am. Two of the pups are going to their adoptive homes and I have become very attached to the little bums. They have kept me hopping but they always come running when they see me and that makes a person feel great. I knew I would have difficulty today...and I was right. Tears were in my eyes as soon as the new owners came in. The pups both went to fantastic families and I know they will be spoilt just the like my own pups. Soooo maybe the difficulty was not in the sketch but in the stamper!

I used this Magnolia girl and a butterfly. Both of these Magnolia stamps were purchased at the Town Shoppe. Phebe has really great prices for Canadians plus the customer services is fantastic. We talk on the phone whenever Magnolia stamps arrive.

I used Prismacolored pencils and Odorless Mineral Spirits to color the image and then I used daubers and three inks to color the BG. I used Pretty in Pink, Pale Plum and Bashful Blue all from the Soft Subtles collection from SU. This is my favorite family of colors and I find I use them often. I love the way the daubers make a soft almost cloudy BG.

I am really not very cheerful today. Sorry but I don`t handle the pups moving to new homes very well. I will put a photo of them all on the blog next week.

Until then...Happy Crafting.
Heather
