Bookmards

I have a niece and a nephew that are just starting out in the school system so reading skills are important to their future. I wanted to make something for them that they could use and get a kick out of. Both bookmarks are made using scraps of paper. I cut them out using the long rectangle nestibility and it's matching scalloped die .
This fairy stamp is from Inkadinkado. I embossed it with Deco Black embossing powder which gives this wonderful color sparkle.
I colored the image with makers and then used stickles in some places.

I used Golden Rod and Star Dust stickles on the capital letters and on all the scalloped around the edge. The printing is done with a black spica pen.

Of course boys don't do Fairies so I used this hockey shirt stamp from Studio G and the car stamp from Vap Srap. Again I embossed with deco black and colored with markers. This one has an extra layer to hide the brads and holes used to embellish. The scalloped paper is a textured metallic silver has has a wonderful glow.

Again the stickles were used on the capital letters. This time it was Broken China and Christmas Red. I added those wonderful gears from my Tim Holtz collection. I find boy projects much harder to embellish but I do think these gears will work.

Quinn is a goalie so I punched holes to print out goalie. I do hope the kids enjoy and use these bookmarks. I wanted to make them something for this weekend when they come over so I made these today.
The snow has really melted away fast...we now have a lawn showing in many places though we still have lots of snow on the front near the house. Guess I have to go. One of the boys is writing an essay on "MacBeth" and needs some help from this Retired Teacher....sometimes I am helpful! Talk soon.
